Nuvigil is a pharmaceutical drug classified as a stimulant which is used
to treat sleepiness and promote wakefulness in a patient. Many
individuals who suffer from such disorders as shift work disorder, sleep
apnea or narcolepsy benefit from taking Nuvigil. This drug was first
approved for use by the FDA in 2007 and is also known by its trade name
Armodanfinil. It is usually taken in pill form first thing in the
morning or at least one hour before an individual needs to be alert for
his work shift.
Caution must be used when taking Nuvigil because certain side effects
can occur in the individual taking this medication on a regular basis.
These include headaches, dizziness, insomnia, skin rashes accompanied by
sore throat and fever as well as nausea.
